Academics

Our school uses a curriculum centered on improving all students’ ability to read. At kindergarten, first and second grades, we ensure students learn to read so that at third, fourth, and fifth grades, students can read to learn. All of our students are expected to read multiple texts each day – and a variety of them – passages, excerpts, articles, books, novels, and more. Students read across all subject areas – reading/language arts, math, science and social studies – and in support classes, too. Our curriculum requires students to engage in discussion with each other about what they’re learning in all subjects, write about what they’re learning and question each other, their teachers and their texts to deepen their learning. Students are expected to complete homework each night, to practice what they’ve learned in class.

Ghaes blended learning
Blended Learning
We employ Blended Learning in all our classrooms with a rotation model that enables teachers to work in small groups with their students. Our learning software (iReady) adapts to our students to meet their individual learning needs. All of our 3rd - 5th grade classrooms are equipped with 10 - 12 laptops, and we have a fully functioning computer lab in our library.

Art & Music
The fine arts are integral at the Hills which is why we have the art and music classes. Students have a unique experience of singing, dancing and performing with an infused curriculum that improves their self image and teaches them to appreciate the arts and other academic disciplines.
Ghaes healthy mind and body
Healthy, Mind & Body
At The Hills we have a focus on supporting the development of the WHOLE child. Healthy, Mind & Body is a program reinforcing to our scholars that self-improvement and academic success requires discipline of our minds AND our bodies. This program includes a class centered around physical education, athletics, nutrition, general health and well-being.
"We commit to making the Hills a place where scholars are happy, safe, and learning!"
